Environment and Infrastructure

The town of Kastela is located directly on the coast of the Dalmatia region in Croatia between the well-known cities of Trogir and Split. Kastela is actually a series of seven historic castles. Around 40,000 inhabitants live in the 16 km long and 4 km wide settlement area around the forts.

There used to be 13 forts along the coast, which is why the region was often referred to as the "road of forts". Today, seven of the historic fortifications can still be visited. Despite so many forts, the landmark of Kastela is not one of these historic buildings, but a mighty 1,500-year-old olive tree, which you will find in Kastel Stafilic.

In addition to the numerous sights in Kastela and in the neighboring towns of Split and Trogir, the region offers fantastic pebble beaches for bathers.
