Environment and Infrastructure
Puerto de la Cruz lies at the foot of the Orotava Valley, which rises from the Atlantic Ocean towards the Teide volcano. The town originated as the port of La Orotava, the first Spanish settlement on Tenerife. Today, as the tourist center of the north coast of Tenerife, the town offers every conceivable amenity and is therefore still a sought-after location on Tenerife.
The Loro Park is certainly one of the most important man-made attractions in the Canary Islands. It is home to the largest collection of parrots and penguins in the world, as well as other animals such as apes, dolphins and the huge seawater aquarium.
Puerto de la Cruz also has a lot to offer culturally thanks to its long history. In addition to the historic port complex and the impressive church buildings, the city also offers plenty of opportunities to stroll through the Plaza del Charco and its promenades or indulge in the culinary delights of Tenerife.
