Candelaria offers short distances to the capital Santa Cruz, to the German school Colegio Aleman in Tabaiba, as well as to the southern airport of the island and various holiday areas. Larger shopping centres can be reached quickly via the TF-1 motorway.
The authentic ambience in the streets around the basilica and the port of Candelaria, the parks along the coast and the cosy restaurants and shops make the town a popular location for residents and guests. As the most important place of pilgrimage in the Canary Islands, Candelaria has its famous basilica with the patron saint Virgen de Candelaria.
From the square, the popular pedestrian zone leads to the fishing port and on to the marina. A long beach of lava sand stretches out in front of this promenade.
